LATE COMRADE CHHIDU SINGH
 Born on 19th July 1941, in the 
Bijauli village in Aligarh district of UP, Chhidu Singh had his 
education in Aligarh itself.  After passing Intermediate, he joined the 
Teletypist training class in Delhi on 9-3-1962, joined the CTO New Delhi
 in October 1962 and retired on 31-7-2001 as Chief Telegraph Master.
 He was active in Students Union 
in Aligarh. In the training class itself he started fight against 
unnecessary postponement of the class. Again, for getting the monthly 
stipend he had to fight.  Mr A S Bhuller (who became an internationally 
renowned painter later on) and Mr Tomar were with him in these fights.  
Mr. Dharamvir, the then Circle Secretary of T III Union in Delhi circle 
was astonished when Chhidu Singh, Bhuller and Tomar approached him for 
membership in the union even when they were undergoing training.  Chhidu
 Singh became very active in the union from the day one in service.  He 
was Divisional Secretary for one term.  He became Circle Secretary on 
16-4-1992 in which position he continued till T III was merged in BSNLEU
 in 2001.  He was elected as the first Circle Secretary of BSNLEU in NTR
 Circle. Later on he became Circle Vice President of the union and 
continued till his demise on 20-12-2014.
 In 2009,  he formed BSNL 
Pensioners Association of NTR Circle and under the banner of the new 
organisation convened a meeting of leaders of BSNL pensioners in Delhi 
on 29th March 2009.  Chhidu Singh was elected as the Convener
 of Ad hoc committee formed in that meeting.  The adhoc committee 
convened a national convention of BSNL pensioners in Chennai on 
20-8-2009 where Chhidu Singh was elected as the Deputy General Secretary
 of our mighty All India BSNL Pensioners Welfare Association. . 
 He left behind his wife (Smt 
Maharani), three married daughters (Seema, Sheila and Punam) and son Mr.
 Nagender Singh and grand children.
